High School Flex Credit

receive high school credit for taking classes at the German Language School

It is possible to receive credit for taking classes at the German Language School.

Here is what you need to know:

  1. Every school is different, and not all schools allow for Flex Credit.
  2. Start the process Early. In many schools the credits for the next school year have to be done in spring. For example in the case of Westlake, application for flex credit is due by May 1st.

The important part is to have your form submitted before the due date. Many guidance counselors work with you to get the form fully completed after the due date if you are missing information and signatures.

In many school districts you can get highschool credit while in middle school. You could potentially apply in the spring before the start of 7th grade and get Highschool Credit.

  1. You will need to submit a copy of the report card from the German Language School to get credit.
  2. The school will likely proctor a test, and there will be a fee for this test that you will pay directly to the school. If this is the case notify the German Language School so we do not order a test as well.
  3. Check what the language requirement is for graduation. In many cases it is recommended that there are 2 years of 2 languages (4 classes total) or 3 years of 1 language.

Our School is a great foundation for college level courses. Your student may be able to enroll in post-secondary enrollment and take college level German Classes while in high school. Our AP test preparation class is a great foundation towards this.

For the bi-literacy seal, the AP German test must be taken the Junior or Senior year. If you take it is a Freshmen or sophomore, you can get high school credit, but may need to retake the test before graduation.
